This is a new university-based course for experienced grantmakers. It provides a critical examination of the complex issues faced by experienced grantmakers today. It combines structured learning with substantive discussion and small group work among peers. In varied course offerings throughout the country, practitioners give the course consistently high ratings for content, delivery and quality.

Led by Peter Christ, Interim Director, The Grantmaking School is headquartered in Michigan at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Grand Valley State University. Developed with the guidance of national experts and leaders in philanthropy, The Grantmaking School offers the first university-based, practitioner-led curriculum aimed at advancing grantmaking as a field. Instructors in the program include Joel J. Orosz, Ph.D., a nationally recognized authority on philanthropy and Distinguished Professor of Philanthropic Studies, and Ken Gladish, Senior Teaching Fellow and President of the Austin Community Foundation in Austin, Texas.  The Advanced Proposal Analysis course is recommended for program officers with two to five years of experience.
