Youth Enrichment Services Inc. (YES) is a $1.8 M non-profit organization headquartered in Boston with the mission to inspire and challenge youth with physical and mental activities that foster life-long respect for self, others, and the environment.
Founded in 1968, YES provides opportunities for youth to develop self-confidence, leadership and job skills through participation in outdoor activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, as well as year-round developmental leadership programs. Over 1,500 youth ages 7-18 participate annually in Operation Snowsports, Outdoor Adventure, and YES Academy Programs. An annual average of 200 volunteers provides critical support for the program activities.
o Build relationships and strategic partnerships with local schools, agencies, churches, housing developments, and other youth serving organizations
o Create a seasonal outreach plan for organizations in YES’s targeted neighborhoods (Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan) and provide opportunities for individuals or agencies to engage.
o Develop a year-round schedule of activities for strategic partners, as well as orientations for agency staff and families that promote YES’s programs.
o Be the organizational liaison and provide oversight for outdoor agency activities
o Play a leadership and facilitative role in recruiting targeted students to all YES Programs and other impactful initiatives, such as YETTI (Youth Excel Through Tailored Instruction)
o Participate in community events, coalitions, etc. that involve input, strategy, and support regarding neighborhood issues.
o Train chaperones from Strategic Partner groups in YES operations and procedures.
o Oversee the registration process for all strategic partner youth organizations.
o Supervise, when applicable, the Assistant Program Coordinator.
o A clear communicator and spokesperson for the YES mission with excellent verbal and written communication skills;
o Experience working in YES’s targeted Boston neighborhoods (Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan) preferred;
o Bachelor's degree with 2 or more years of professional experience
o Have a passion for advancing the YES mission through program improvement;
o Demonstrated experience in enhancing the character of youth and adults;
o Ability to take direction, act independently, set priorities, balance demands of multiple tasks, and meet deadlines;
o Proficiency in writing, public speaking and database use;
o A positive role model for all YES youth and volunteers
o Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time
o Ability to work 4-5 weekends a year and evenings during seasonal scheduled events.
o Commitment to outdoors and willingness to learn the basics of skiing or snowboarding as well as paddling, biking, climbing
