Sailors’
Snug Harbor of Boston is a private independent foundation which supports
nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in two main areas of funding:
-
Fishing
Communities Initiative: Approximately half of the foundation’s
grant funds are targeted to a special initiative to address the particular
economic, health, and welfare needs of Massachusetts’ fishing communities
in Cape Cod, Gloucester, and New Bedford. The focus of this initiative
is to help current and former fishing families in Massachusetts achieve
sustainable self-sufficiency during this period of transition in their
industry.
-
Elder
Programs: Approximately half of the foundation's grant
funds go to programs that assist elderly persons in the Greater Boston
area, through increased access to services, improved development of suitable
housing, and related services. The goal of SSH’s Elder Programs funding
is to help Greater Boston’s low-income elderly population live independently.
